Mumbai, Sept 26: The best of Leander Paes has always come when he plays for the Indian tri-colour. Be it the Davis Cup, Olympics or the Asian Games. And the Asian Games in Doha is Paes’ target at the moment.
He realises that India have a great chance of pocketing a gold medal in the men’s and mixed doubles and that is why he is keen to concentrate on doubles only.

In fact Paes has almost made up his made not play singles at the Asian Games.
"For the Asian Games, I am focussing on the doubles with Bhupathi and mixed doubles with Sania. As of now I am thinking of not playing in the singles. Doubles are my priority. I have to careful not to play too much and dilute our chances in the doubles," said Paes.
After winning the US Open with Martin Damm, Leander Paes had announced that the US Open winning pair would compete at the Kingfisher Airlines Tennis Open. But, then came the news that Paes is partnering Pakistan’s Aisam Qureshi."This tournament being so close after the US Open and the Davis Cup, Martin decided not to come. I thought of partnering Mahesh. I know that he thought about it hard but he had committed to Ancic."

Mumbai: After his earlier visit to Mumbai in April for the Davis Cup tie, Pakistan’s Aisam Qureshi is back in the city for the Kingfisher Airlines Tennis Open and will be on the same side of the court with an Indian, partnering Indian ace Leander Paes.
"I was playing Davis Cup for Pakistan in China when I got a call from Leander asking to play doubles with him in Mumbai.I was thrilled at the offer and readily accepted it."
